Alice Foster

SEO Editor at The Times and The Sunday Times

When Google changed its policy for news sites using paywalls, the Times wanted to jump at the opportunity to change their approach to SEO. But how to jumpstart SEO in a culture where it had been low priority? For Alice, an SEO guidebook was the answer.

How a Best-Practice Guidebook Has Helped The Times and The Sunday Times to Succeed With SEO

“…Journalists refer to style guides in the course of their work, and I wanted to set down our SEO best practice in a similar format.

While writing the guide, I worked alongside editors and sub-editors to come up with our own unique approach to SEO. Through the consultation process, I built relationships across the newsrooms and continued the conversation about how SEO should be integrated. I then rolled out the guide by organising training sessions based on its principles.”
